Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park is the largest National Park in the northern Tanzania with a superficies of about 14,763 km2, Serengeti is also the oldest National Park/ wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania. The name Serengeti come from the Maasai tribe referring to the endless plains. Serengeti is the heart of the Serengeti ecosystem which include Maswa Game Reserve, Loliondo Controlled Area, Grumeti Game reserve, Ikorongo Game Controlled Area, Ngorongoro Conservation Authority Area and the Maasai Game Reserve in Kenya. Serengeti is the major source of the Great Migration which provide the southern Serengeti and Northern Ngorongoro plains the most calving area for the great migration of the wildebeest and zebras. Western Serengeti and Northern Serengeti do provide the black cotton soil and also is where there are devices ”crocodiles and cats” to balance the number of great migration, the wildebeest migration crossing can also be viewed in the western Serengeti and in the Northern Serengeti. The park can be easily accessed by road and air crafts from Nairobi, Arusha, Maasai Mara Game reserve, Kilimanjaro Airport, Kampala and Ngorongoro.
