Lake Manyara National Park
The park covers an area of 648 km2 230 km2 is covered by water body while the rest is covered by land including the Marang forest. The park is easily reached from Arusha, Tarangire and Ngorongoro. Lake Manyara National Park was declared a National Park in 1960 for preserving large variety of habitats such as Rift Valley, under ground water forest, woodland forest and the recent added Marang forest. The name Manyara derived from the plant scientifically called Eurphobia Tirucalli which the Maasai people used to fence their herd’s stock. The park is well known for it’s tree climbing lions.
