Rubondo Island National Park
A jewel in Lake Victoria, Rubondo is amongst Tanzania’s National Park established on an island. The striking nature of the park is derived from it’s evergreen forests, diverse lake environment and miles of sandy shores fringed by palms. Rubondo is very rich on an avifauna. Rubondo National Park was designated in year 1977 for protection of wildlife and known to protect fish breeding ground. The total area is about 240 km2, the park can be reached by ferry and boat from Mwanza town and by air craft from Mwanza, Nairobi, Serengeti and Arusha. Rubondo is the best meeting place for eastern and west avifauna.
