The Serengeti is home to the last great mammal migration in the world, covering 14,763 km² of iconic savanna. The word Serengeti comes from the Maasai language and means "endless plains" — a perfect description of this timeless wilderness. One of the most spectacular attractions is the Great Migration: the immense movement of over 1.3 million wildebeest, accompanied by vast numbers of zebras, gazelles, elands, and impalas, following an annual cycle in search of pasture and water.
