Yellow Fever Vaccination — Compulsory

Since 22 January 2008, the yellow fever vaccine is compulsory for all travellers entering Tanzania. The Tanzanian government enforces this rule to limit the risk of introducing the disease through foreign visitors. An up-to-date vaccination booklet will be required upon your arrival.

Before You Travel

Health Precautions for Tanzania

Your health and safety is our priority. Please review all requirements and recommendations before your departure.

Yellow Fever COMPULSORY

Mandatory for all travellers entering Tanzania since 22 January 2008. Although the risk of contracting the disease during your safari is low, the Tanzanian authorities require proof of vaccination to protect the local population.

Your international vaccination booklet must be up to date and presented at the border upon arrival in Tanzania.

Malaria Prevention STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

Malaria is present in many parts of Tanzania, especially in lower-altitude areas such as the Serengeti and the coast. An anti-malaria treatment is strongly recommended for all travellers visiting Tanzania.

Consult your doctor at least 4–6 weeks before departure to get the appropriate anti-malaria prescription for Tanzania.

Typhoid Vaccination RECOMMENDED

The typhoid vaccination is recommended for travellers visiting Tanzania. Typhoid can be contracted through contaminated food or water, and vaccination provides good protection.

The typhoid vaccine is typically given as a single injection and provides protection for up to 3 years.

Consult Your Doctor

We strongly encourage you to verify all health requirements with your regular doctor well in advance of your departure. Medical requirements can change, and your doctor can tailor advice to your personal health situation.
