Amboseli National Park
Elephants Against Kilimanjaro
Amboseli National Park is Kenya's most famous park, celebrated for its iconic views of elephants walking against the snow-capped backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. The park sits at the foot of Africa's highest mountain at an altitude of 1,220 m and is home to one of the best-studied elephant populations in the world. The Amboseli basin — a dried ancient lake bed — attracts enormous herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and giraffe, while the swamps are filled with hippos and birds.
