Breakfast at the lodge, then departure for an adventure to Tarangire National Park — the home of huge herds of elephants and the majestic ancient baobab trees. Tarangire covers 2,800 km² and is very unique among the northern parks of Tanzania. The Tarangire River is a magnet for wildlife during the dry season, drawing enormous breeding herds of elephants, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and an extraordinary variety of bird life. Depart for the wonderful short-grass plains of the Ndutu region — filled with the largest remaining great wildebeest migration on Earth. Between January and March, hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and Thomson's gazelle flood the Ndutu plains for the annual calving season, attracting the highest concentration of predators in Africa: lion prides, cheetah families and leopards hunt the herds daily across the open plains. Lunch at Ndutu Safari Lodge or at the mobile camp located in the Ndutu region. Afternoon game drive on the plains watching the migration and the predators that follow it. Dinner and overnight at Ndutu Safari Lodge or mobile camp.

After breakfast, set off for a full day game drive in the Ndutu region. The plains are a superb area for game drives during this period — the Ndutu short-grass plains are the calving ground of the great migration and home to the big cats looking for easy prey from the herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelles roaming across the open landscape. Cheetah families hunt in the morning light, lion prides rest near fresh kills, and leopards move through the acacia woodland at the plains' edge. Either picnic lunch on the plains or lunch at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Ndutu Safari Lodge or mobile camp.

Early breakfast then proceed to Ngorongoro Crater for a full day game drive in the Eden of Africa. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to the rare black rhinoceros — one of the most critically endangered large mammals on Earth — alongside enormous lion prides, vast hippo pools, flamingo-pink Lake Magadi and tens of thousands of resident wildebeest, zebra and buffalo. The game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater is superb due to the extraordinary variety of landscapes: the open short-grass crater floor, the forested walls rising 600 metres to the rim, and the magnificent highland scenery above. Picnic lunch on the crater floor. Ascend from the crater in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Marera Valley Lodge or Karatu Country Lodge.

After breakfast, return to Arusha with picnic lunch en route through the scenic central highlands.
